Fossway produce soaring and rhythmic alt rock
Following on from a highly successful 2019, Fossway are and alt rock band you need to be excited about.
Returning with their new release ‘Grey Cloud’, the Newcastle Upon Tyne-based trio continue to build on their success which saw them release their debut EP ‘Bravest of the Pride’.
New number ‘Grey Cloud’ is a rhythmic track with soaring guitar riffs and crashing drums, Fossway are singing from the rooftops with confidence.
Discussing the inspiration behind the song, Daniel reveals: “‘Grey Cloud’ stems from feelings of someone being detached from their own body. In my case I experienced this due to stress and anxiety to the point of genuinely feeling as if my body was not my own and was not ‘me’. In broader terms, there is the theme of social alienation: feeling that you don’t fit in and that others don’t understand you.”
Comprised of Daniel Mason (Vocals and Guitar), Harry Lowery (Drums), and John Lennox (Bass and Vocals), Fossway explores not only their musicianship, but their lyricism that captures concepts such as societal issues, mainstream music, and their role as an upcoming band.
“With ‘Grey Cloud’ we wanted to prove that we could take our already-established sound and push it even further by incorporating even more prominent Progressive and Heavy Rock elements into the mix, and thus move away from the tired Indie-Rock that has dominated the last decade,” explains frontman Daniel Mason, before noting “more simply, we wanted this song to be our boldest, loudest and most sophisticated yet.”
