For The Girl @ Lift 574

For The Girl

The energetic Indie Pop Rock quintet from Nottingham, For The Girl have been making music since they were in school, now four years on, the music and fanbase have since grown enormously. Frontman Sam Plenty, rhythm guitar Josh King, lead guitar Isaac Hallas, bass guitar/ synth James Wells and drums/ percussion Nathan ‘Foxy’ Fox have just released their debut EP ‘Shark Attack’ which they held their EP launch at their hometown venue, The Botega. For The Girl

We went to see For The Girl perform at a pretty cool looking bar and club, Lift 574 in Dalston, London. The lads were all looking cheery and ready to rock tonight. Watching the lads getting prepped taking out all of their equipment out of the car carrying in their equipment hand in hand which you don’t often get to see when you’re a huge band with trucks loads of equipment.

The night started half an hour later than expected because of some technical issues with equipment but it got swiftly under way with a couple of local bands called Sidewalk Express and Subterranean Popular. A bit of alt-rock and grunge pop with a hint of blues to warm what was a very small crowd considering London is a very large place to be playing.

The young lads were not to disappointed by the turn out at the Lift, but in the spirit of beautiful indie music, the lads have just released. The room had surprisingly good sound considering that it was in a basement. All their songs were great to see live ‘Earthquake’ and ‘Raise A Glass’ with upbeat lyrics from Sam’s voice mixed along with their combined indie synths. For The Girl

Bassist, James was making the most of the empty space by dancing around trying to get some of us into the mood to come and join him, as well as to try and give something a bit different than just having a band just stand on the stage the whole time.

They even had time to add their own version of Imagine Dragons hit single ‘Radioactive’. And yes, of course, it was an indie synth version, that actually worked pretty well I thought.

For The GirlFriday night was certainly a good one, travelling all the way into London to enjoy yourselves, have a few beers and listen to your favourite new artists is why you want to get into this music business. Not to mention you might just get a couple of free drinks too!
