By The Fifa soundtrack sells itself on the description that it exists as a collection of songs that “moves music forwards”. The soundtrack has always provided great exposure for its featured artists, and bestows a true honour and commendation. Jagwar Ma previously featured on the soundtrack for Fifa 13 with their 2012 single, ‘What Love?’, from the debut album ‘Howlin’’.
Fifa 17 demonstrates a range of songs from some new, and some returning artists – Jagwar Ma’s ‘OB1’ is one of these songs. ‘OB1’ is from Jagwar Ma’s forthcoming second album, ‘Every Now & Then’, which is scheduled to be released on 14th October 2016. Alongside the Jagwar Ma band (Jack Freeman, Jono Ma, and Gabriel Winterfield), the song features indie-rock band Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa on drums.
The song stays true to the hazy neo-psychedelia of Jagwar Ma’s previous work, merging with the alt-rock that tends to feature on, and work well as, accompaniment for Fifa.
