Fever Days hints synth-laden alt pop

Combining elements of new wave and lo-fi alt pop, Fever Days return with new single ‘Hark Luck’ following a brief summer hiatus.

The Newcastle four-piece sit somewhere between Graham Coxon and The Futureheads and have just finished touring alongside The Pale White on their Southern UK tour.

Their latest offering ‘Hark Luck’ contains hints of the synth-laden dance-rock of The 1975 and Declan McKenna, but comes with a more raucous overall feel thanks to its guitar-driven chorus.

The track’s lyrics seem to reflect a mood that oscillates between a form of existential angst and a sense of humorous resignation at life dealing you a bad hand.

Singer Oli Green explains: “‘Hard Luck’ just sums up my life I think. Ever since I was little I’ve always felt like I’ve had the worst luck, because everything I’m involved with seems to go wrong one way or another.

“So much so that thirteen is now my lucky number, in some sort of attempt to lift the curse.”

The new single is currently on the ICM Discoveries playlist. Have a listen now and leave a rating out of 10.
