When it comes to music, live performances are arguably one the greatest ways to listen to music. Tours, Festivals, Busking, whatever the weather you can always guarantee that the music fans will pull through and support new emerging talent. Over the past 12 months we’ve been lucky enough to attend some of the summer-weekend festivals, the inner-city gems and even catch bands up and down the country at some of the best venues that the UK has to offer.
Just before festival season, Bristol-based indie-pop band, Coasts, were touring their debut LP. Filled with captivating choruses, and hallowing drums, this was an album tour you did not want to miss!
Fortunately for us we managed to see them at the nationwide-renowned Brudenell Social Club. Firstly the venue may not look much on the outside, just your standard social club. Although on the inside, it has this ora which turns the crowd into wild music lovers, inducing them into a state of trance by which the music controls you.
The bands obviously have a part to play in this music-induced coma, and Coasts especially. With great support acts such as, local Leeds lads, Marsicans, and the creative prodigy Hunter warming up the crowd, by the time Coasts came on, the crowd was fuelled and ready to lose their sh*t.
Coasts crammed onto this tiny stage become one with the crowd and instead of them leading a performance, they hosted a party. Fans screaming the catchy lyrics so loud it was drowning out the lead vocalist and an atmosphere which showed true gratitude and respect from not only fans but also the band.
To me it seemed as though it was a true celebration of not only having a successful album and tour, but also the celebration of the true purpose of live performances.
The winner of each category will announced on 3oth of December.
