Heading out onto their headline tour. We caught up with The Vryll Society to ask them all about their recent music release, what it is like on tour and also their opinion on the rise in vinyl sales.
First of all your music, i’m interested in knowing your influences and what sort of music you guys are into.
We have been compared to Tame Impala before and we don’t tend to sway to far from it in a way. We do listen to Pink Floyd a hell of a lot and we do draw influences from them as well. Bands don’t always listen to the same type of music that they make so sometimes we’ll have some banging disco tunes!
Secondly, you’ve been releasing a few songs across the year and your last one came out 5 days ago. Have the releases been how you anticipated?
It’s been great. Our latest release has received better reception from our other singles even though it’s only been out for 5 days! The difference between our latest song and our previous songs is that it is a lot more direct and a lot more relatable which I think our fans are definitely picking up on. The media has been getting involved and we do have some stuff planned. Also it is great to have the media on our side as that goes hand in hand with gaining more fans. It’s lovely when fans come over at the end of a show and say hi to us.
When will the next big music release be?
We have a new single coming out in February and it is literally just confirmed. After this tour we will be heading into the studio to record it and get some more music out. When it comes to writing the music, we all dab into it and really do get stuck in.
From Liverpool, we see loads of bands coming from there, yourselves, Louis Berry, Clean Cut Kid too. How would you sum up the music scene?
Liverpool’s music scene has a lot going on. It is very varied too music wise. Compared to the rest of the country, we get a huge buzz out of playing there, but clearly we’re biased. Even when we speak to other bands and tell them we’re from Liverpool, they’re all like “Oh we love playing Liverpool!”.
I believe this is your first date of the whole tour.
What are you most excited about with being on tour?
To be honest, it does have a lot of late nights, but we enjoy it! After supporting Blossoms earlier this year, by the end of it we felt awful! Eating routines are out of the window, sleeping patterns are messed up, but like I said we love it! The best part of being on tour, excluding performing obviously, is getting to see the reaction to our
Music from fans.
And lastly, what is your opinion on vinyl sales?
We always push it. Whenever we release music we will always try our best to get it on vinyl. I think that it is down to the fact that it is something people can hold. A music download will never challenge the sales of vinyls. There is however a clear indication as to whether as a band it is worth releasing the songs on vinyl because some genres just do not fit vinyls anymore.
