Kick-starting his solo musical adventure last year with two singles, Ewan Patrick returns once again with two more soaring indie rock numbers.
Written, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered everything at his home in Edinburgh, Ewan is an established musician. He’s played in numerous bands over the years which saw plenty of BBC Radio recognition and even had the opportunity to play at the esteemed T in the Park festival which was replaced by TRNSMT festival in 2016.
‘Feels Good To Be Alive’ is the first single in Ewan’s catalogue of songs that never made it into any of this previous band’s music. The track is a wonderful slow-burner with harmonious acoustics until the song anthemically explodes at the one-minute 10 seconds mark. The lyrics are a narrative starting with the protagonist in quiet introspection.
Whereas with ‘Two Hearts’, the single is anthemic in its own right as with a Cello breaking out in the second half of the track which was composed and performed by good friend Rebecca Rowe. The truthfulness and honesty in Ewan’s songwriting shines through as you listen to each track. You can’t help but take a step back and think about your own narrative.
Of the track, Ewan Patrick commented: “I stumbled upon ‘Two Hearts’ while writing my wedding speech, not for a minute trying to contrive a love song for my future wife but it just kind of happened.
“For me, truth and honesty in songwriting is really important, and I hope that comes through when people listen to my songs.”
