Brighton based alt-pop band BELLES have blessed our ears with their latest track ‘Electric’. Sprinkled with indie and new wave influences, ‘Electric’ is riddled in infectious guitar loops, fast drum beats and powerful lyrics. Love and angst play a part within the track, as the narrator struggles with finding a balance and harmony within life, as the band explain
“‘Electric’ is about taking control of your life and allowing yourself to feel like you’re living again.”
Lyrically, ‘Electric’ is an incredibly catchy track, yet it oozes with emotion and presents to the listeners a raw side to the bands sound. To me, this track has a more indie vibe than previous songs, but this just shows what a diverse, intriguing, and adaptable sound BELLES have. The echoed new wave guitar really lifts this track to the next level and creates a whole new dimension to the sound, in addition to pulsating bass that grounds the track, and the high energy drums that give the track life and movement.
‘Electric’ brings together nocturnal moodiness and eternal balance as the lyrical meaning of the track and the musical elements intertwine to create a 90s inspired adolescent anthem that really connects with the audience. BELLES are a band of talented creatives that introduce many genres and sounds into their tracks, especially within ‘Electric’ – I feel 2019 is going to be breakthrough year for them, as they are already creating a buzz within the Brighton music scene, and with the release of ‘Electric’ taking their sound to new audiences.
