Belgian trio YellowStraps release their new EP ‘Blame’, along with final single ‘Idle Talk’.
Inspired by artists such as Daniel Caesar, D’Angelo, Moonchild and Robert Glasper, YellowStraps inject just the right amounts of jazz, soul, hip-hop and electronic music into the indie-pop leaning ‘Idle Talk’.
The narrative for the Blame EP meanders along the journey of a relationship, ‘Blame’ represents the residual resentment of a previous relationship, before meeting someone new results in feelings being ‘Like Magic’, spending every waking moment in each other company with ‘Nights Up’, breaking down into conflict and ‘Idle Talk’ is about how far a relationship can go wrong until it breaks down altogether. When two people that were in love start becoming strangers.
YellowStraps is a Belgium based act originally created by self-taught brothers Alban & Yvan Murenzi and drummer Raph Stark, who conjured up a very particular sound mixing Jazz, Soul, Hip-hop & electronic music.
The trio won the Award of Most Promising Artist at Redbull Elektropedia the same year.
