Tropical pop quartet Indigo Velvet have released their latest single ‘Sunrise’.

The Edinburgh based band consists of; Darren Barclay – Vocals/Guitar, Jason Tucker – Vocals/Guitar, Billy McMahon – Drums and Laurie Adam – Bass Guitar.

The band released the single just three days into the tour of the north of England and Scotland, which seems to be where the majority of their fans are based.

Their trademark summery Indigo Velvet sound with its radiant guitar licks, bouncy rhythms and weightless vocals. ‘Sunrise’ embraces all the elements of the tropical indie pop that the band have turned it into their own. Danny’s voice has a similar resemblance to that of Young The Giant.

As the track progresses, the beat drops for a few seconds before the band break free from their solid rhythms and melodies and go for a full rock jam; smashing percussion and heavy riffs are the go to before that energetic and catchy guitar line makes itself known again.

The track was premiered on The Skinny, where vocalist Darren said: “It was like a fly-on-the-wall situation with the lyrics. The song is more or less about a girl cheating on a guy and I decided to write it from the cheated side which was pretty interesting because I’ve never been cheated on… not that I know of anyway!

“I just thought about what I’d see out and about in town, and you see girls drifting between folk; sometimes you know who they are which is even sneakier, and you know who is sitting at home, and I just kind of wanted to vent through a song. Sunrise was the first word in the song and it sounded pretty cool so we went with that as the title, but also I thought sunrise is a nice way of saying ‘Wake up mate!'”
