Discover: Earth Heart – Homesick

Boston garage rock band Earth Heart’s upcoming debut album Homesick, is out on August 5th! They’ve recently released the title track “Homesick” as the first single (listen below). With their raw, in-your-face yet alluring brand of garage rock, Earth Heart is clearly for fans of Feels or LA Witch.

Earth Heart formed in February 2013 when Katie and Matt met at the old All Asia Cafe in Central Square, Cambridge (US). Katie was working on a solo project at the time, as she didn’t have a band. So she mentioned that she needed a drummer and Matt volunteered without having heard any of her songs. They played a show the next day without rehearsing and have been playing together ever since. And continued as a duo (guitar and drums), playing extensively in the Boston area at venues such as TT The Bears Place, Middle East upstairs, O’Briens, Out Of The Blue Gallery and Zuzu. As well as a handful of basement shows in Manchester, New Hampshire.

The duo became inseparable and have since self-recorded and released five EPs and performed extensively throughout the Boston area. Recorded at Napoleon Complex in Somerville, Homesick is Earth Heart’s debut full length album and the first time they’ve recorded in a professional studio. However, their brash, DIY-garage sound didn’t get lost on the boards at Napoleon Complex. Coriander’s raspy vocals stand out with conviction against the waves of echoing guitars and crashing drums on the lead single “Homesick.” Homesick will be self-released on August 5, 2016.

Influences range from local acts such as Fat History Month and Krill to the Mouldy Peaches, the Melvins, and Cat Power. After the album was completed the band were joined by Natan Keyes on bass.
