Emerging from Reading, indie rock quartet St. Peter’s Dream are CLOSEUP Promotion’s Artist Spotlight this week following the release of their latest single ‘What Molly Wants’ was released in August. Vocalist and in charge of the rhythm, Travis give us a catch up on their future as well as their favourite festival headliners.
St. Peter’s Dream! It’s great to have a chat! We love your music as you well know. We’re keen to hear about your live shows, what does a St. Peter’s Dream live show usually bring?
They feel like such a distant memory but the live shows are where we definitely thrive the most, individually and as a band. All four of the singles were pretty much written with the foreseeing of crowds like rippling back to us when we play. Can’t wait to get that back for sure!
What part of the musical process do you enjoy most, and why? is it performing live, creating your tracks, or..?
The live shows are pretty much untouchable but getting into the studio and piecing together a single is really rewarding. It’s jokes just kicking back while we do our own bits and then at the end you’ve got your tune.
If you created a St. Peter’s Dream festival, and could pick three headliners, who would you go for?
I’m writing this out (Travis) so I’m going to avoid band democracy and go for my own three but Sade, Blaenavon and The Game.
Your latest release, ‘What Molly Wants’, was released in August – nice one! Is releasing music during these strange times any different to before?
Massively. It makes a substantial difference releasing music without gigs and tours. Obviously things aren’t that simple in the current climate but I think you just have to move with the flow of the things. Ideally you’d release a song/EP and follow it up with gigs but there’s nothing stopping you from still actively trying to do things to excel your release.
If St. Peter’s Dream could play any support slot at any venue in the world – who would it be and why?
Barrowlands opening up for The Libertines would be mental. A venue that you know will bring absolute chaos and bedlam along with a band who will do the exact same. I’d say we would be up for that.
‘What Molly Wants’ is out now. Have a listen below.
