Four slightly zany lads from Liverpool, Circa Waves are renowned for their ability to produce music so infectiously feel-good that it’s hardly surprising how they’ve managed to gain such a huge following in just three years.
Last year saw the release of one of the most summery, mood-boosting albums: ‘Young Chasers. Full-on festival anthems, the boys captured that energetic indie charm and ran with it, hitting major UK festivals – Reading & Leeds, Glastonbury and Boardmasters – along the way, and throwing themselves into the spotlight of the indie scene.
This charming, happy-go-lucky vibe became their safety net, But with an obvious disregard for what is ‘safe’, Circa Waves blew this out the water with the release of their brand new bombshell track ‘Wake up’.
A high octane, angst-filled masterpiece. Taking their previous work and giving it an explosive new makeover.
Clearly not a band to sit back and allow their sound to go stagnant. Fearlessly abandoning the bubbly feel that got them that fast-track not the industry. switching from summery indie-pop to more stormy indie rock.
Less wombats–esque and more like the straight-edge sound of Biffy Clyro. Still keeping a firm hold of their musical charm, but burying it under a bombard of fiery guitar riffs and high-voltage drumbeats.
Awakening excitement for the bands next album ‘Different Creatures’, out on the 10/03/17. ‘Wake up’ – Evocative, spirited and more intense than anything Circa Waves have previously produced.
