Camens share sweet and melodic indie-Britpop with flamboyant vocals
Indie rock band Camens share new single ‘Leave Me In Pieces’ as the quartet find their feet and establish a hardened sound.
Hailing from Stoke-on-Trent, the band have a groovy and rhythmic sound thanks to sweet Britpop-esque riffs and flamboyant vocals that glide over the melody with ease.
Following up on this year’s hit single ‘Handbrake’, Camens have made great strides in the past 12 months and this single is arguably their best produced one yet.
“This one’s not rocket science, but it’s relatable and it’s honest,” says frontman Scott Powell. “It’s a breakup song… we’ve all been there. If you’ve ever been there and felt binned off because you’re skint most of the time, then this one’s probably for you.”
From sneaking into Latitude Festival in a mate’s food van to scary Tinder dates and playing shows with a band and their acoustic guitars singing “Who’s Got The Ket?”, Camens are on the rise.
Their DIY efforts haven’t gone unnoticed with Steve Lamacq (Radio 6 Music) and Jim Salveson (XS Manchester) giving radio praise and support slots with The Sherlocks, The Futureheads and The Snuts. There’s a togetherness that screams loud and proud.
The band add: “We’ve been through all of this and continue to love what we do. Together we’ve seen each other go through genuine tragedies and blessings. We’ve had great gigs and not so great. We’ve also had our fair share of false dawns. But, here we are. It’s not engineered, Insta filtered or Mummy-and-Daddy-funded. It’s real, it counts, and people are beginning to catch on.”
