Burton’s Extras deliver cracking riffs and punchy rhythms

Deep in the heart of Britain’s beer and ale brewing haven, Burton-on-Trent’s Extras are producing their own batch of cracking riffs and punchy rhythms.

Their latest single ‘Previous Scene’ is an indie anthem for the masses, primed and ready for the festival fields we can finally get to.

Comprising of Jake Scrimshaw – Lead singer/guitar, Theo Brown – Lead guitar, Sam Bunting – Bass and Jacob Newton – Drums, Extras are inspired by giants in their field, including the likes of The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys and Kaiser Chiefs.

‘Previous Scene is a note to someone who feels they have to go their own way and avoid a relationship or any exclusivity as they’re excited by their current status, but there is something special elsewhere.

In ‘Previous Scene’s’ case, “the stage” refers to being single and on the market, but that’s “not the way it has to be”.

Commenting on the track, Extras lead singer Jake Scrimshaw, said: “The first couple of weeks of lockdown had truly kicked in and I was getting bored easily, so I looked in a random book on the shelf and found the phrase, ‘previous scene’.

“I immediately grabbed the guitar and sang what first came to mind, and it was the chorus that you can hear now.

“Many a Zoom call later between the band as a whole and all the layers joined together to create ‘Previous Scene’.”

The band are set to play a hometown show at The Barton Bowls Club today (August 20th) at 7pm. Tickets are £5 on the door.
