Boardmasters Exclusive Interview – WHITE

Glasgow-based indie rock band WHITE are playing Boardmasters Festival this weekend! Leo Condie (singer), Hamish Fingland (guitar), Chris Potter (guitar), Lewis Andrew (bass) and Kirstin Lynn (drums) are making their debut appearance at the festival We find out a little more a out them.

Firstly, What have you been up to as a band, and give us an insight into the unique style of music you create.

We’ve been hitting the festtivals all over the UK and beyond, bringing our electro-disco nightclub craziness to unsuspecting tents and getting audiences dancing.

When it comes to the reception of music, How is it being received?

It’s been so much fun, we’ve been playing headline tours where audiences are singing back our lyrics, but to experience that at festivals have been mindblowing. We always want to put on a show and give the crowd something to move to, and they’ve been really responsive so far.

What initially attracted you to Boardmasters, and made you want to take part in it?

We’ve heard a lot of great things about Boardmasters and we’re looking forward to seeing it, seeing Cornwall, & catching some of the other bands on the bill.

You’re not entirely new to performing, you have played all over the place, as a band can you describe the differences between playing a festival and a headline show in a music venue?

I’ve been delighted by how little difference there is – the same sweaty nightclub vibe is transitioning to festivals better than we could have hoped. And the stages are bigger, all the more space for us to dance our hearts out…

Your set at Boardmasters is Sunday, Land of Saints stage. What can we expect from your set in particular?

The party and the after-party rolled into one…

Who would you recommend to also go see at Boardmasters?

We’re definitely going to catch The Big Moon & Primal Scream. See you up the front.

Where are you heading in the future? whats the plan?

We’ve got a few more festivals to round off the summer & then we’re releasing Cuts That Don’t Bleed, our 10″ EP in autumn. There’re tracks from it going up each month online so check out facebook.com/calledwhite for the latest.

Lastly whats the best 3 things about Boardmasters that you are looking forward to?

None of us have been before so it’s all a mystery to us – can’t wait to find out!

White – Boardmasters Festival – Watergate Bay, Newquay – Sunday – 17:30pm – Land Of Saints Stage

Camens return with indie rock belter ‘Poltergeist’

Back when times were much simpler, indie rockers Camens were sneaking into festivals and performing pop-up gigs wherever they could. Now, two years later, they’re back with their latest single ‘Poltergeist’.  The Stoke-on-Trent outfit are leaving behind the button bright indie-pop of their formative years in favour of something altogether darker, more mature and certainly more frenetic. As a result, ‘Poltergeist’ is a razor-sharp indie rock number suggests the gap between releases hasn’t been spent in vain. Following up on 2020’s ‘Leave Me In Pieces, the band are shifting in a new direction with their own brand of idiosyncratic indie.
