Blindness & Light hit you with cathartic post-punk

Liverpool post-punk rockers Blindness & Light have got their first foot on the rung of the musical career ladder and are ready to reach the top.

Comprising of Colin Potter (vocals/guitar), Helen Reynolds (backing vocals), Paul McConnell (bass) and Glenn Welman (drums) collective stretch from Anglesey to North Yorkshire. Taking inspiration from icons from the 80s and 90s post-punk scene, their music is mysterious and groovy.

Releasing new single ‘Mersey Bell’, the song features dominant bass flicks and delicate vocals from Potter and Reynolds. Written about a late night walk home from Widnes to Runcorn following the death of a close friend. The band’s cathartic and emotional songwriting enables you to feel closer to the music.

Speaking further the band said: “With the shadow of the death of a close friend hanging over us we decided to climb up high on to the ramparts of a local railway bridge across the river Mersey.

“When we reached the top we discovered a huge shipping bell which I decided to ring out in the middle of the night.

“It was such a powerful memory amidst the waves and the wind and the reflections from the chemicals plants and oil refineries. We felt that it was a fitting tribute to Richard.”

Blindness & Light have achieved European success in recent months with previous single  ‘All On You’ received a lot of attention with over 15,000 radio plays worldwide and reached number 1 in the European Indie Chart. ‘Butterfly’ is currently sitting at number 8 and rising in the same chart.

‘Mersey Bell’ is the third teaser for their up-and-coming second album. ‘I Dreamt I Had Insomnia’.

The band clearly are making waves through the indie scene with their  flamboyant post-punk noise. Like what you hear? Follow the band on Facebook and Instagram.
