Birthday Card – CloseUp Festival Artist Spotlight
We’re buzzing to be covering CloseUp Festival 2019. It was recently announced that Brighton’s Birthday Card are confirmed to join Saturday’s bill along SPINN. CloseUp Festival 2019 is set to bring some of the best live talent in the UK for two nights at Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen. Tickets are still available¬†here
Birthday Card, we’re sure you get this all the time, but how did your name come to fruition?
I believe it’s a lyric in a song by Sufjan Stevens. Josh picked it out and it just stuck. We always thought the name had a really clear aesthetic attached to it in our minds, which I don’t think is necessarily the case for all names you come up with.
You return to London on Saturday as one of the surprise CloseUp Festival acts announced this week, are you excited for it, any acts in particular you can’t wait to see?
We’re looking forward to it. We caught a couple of the other CloseUp acts at TGE but I’m still yet to see Spinn and Arcade Hearts. Little Cub we played with a while back in Reading, so would be great to see them again.
What should we expect from your set at the festival?
An unadulterated rock show, of course…
If you could pick 3 acts for your dream festival lineup, ever, who would it be?
If I had to limit it to three it’d probably have to be Kayne, Bowie, and Busted. You couldn’t ask for much more really.
And finally, go on, give us the lowdown on new music, you know you wanna..?
We’re constantly working on new music, many of which have crept slowly but surely into the live set so come down and see for yourself!
