Beabadoobee 'care'

Beabadoobee is back. In truth, the 20-year-old never really went away, thanks in part to Canadian rapper Powfu’s unavoidable hit single ‘death bed’ which heavily samples her 2017 tune ‘Coffee’ to great effect.

Following a series of promising EP’s released on Dirty Hit the singer-songwriter is now ready to release her full-length debut album.

‘Fake It Flowers’ is scheduled to be released in ‘late 2020’ but in the meantime, we have new single ‘Care’ to tide us over.

One of Beabadoobee’s greatest strengths is the range of her songwriting, flitting between blasts of grungey rock and woozy bedroom pop.

‘Care’ definitely falls into the former category moving from a palm-muted guitar intro to a rip-roaring chorus in just 30 seconds.

Said chorus is catchy as hell and channels undeniable Hole-era Courtney Love vibes.

90s rock has always been a source of inspiration for Beabadoobee and ‘Care’ is no expectation, reveling in distorted guitars, an energetic bassline and thumping drums.

What’s particularly impressive about the track is how the melody and lyrics soar above the grungey production to hit home.

‘I don’t want your sympathy, stop saying you give a shit, ’cause you don’t really’ is delivered with a knowing snarl that sets up the chorus brilliantly.

Proving once again that less is often more the simplicity of ‘Care, care, care, yeah’ makes the chorus an absolute earworm.

When touring eventually resumes everyone at Beabadoobee’s next show will know the words to at least one song – and what a song it is.
