Thursday the 14th saw me travel once more to The Horn in St Albans for a sold out Battle of the Bands in which I had the mammoth task of judging for the evening. Who knew little old me was allowed to have an opinion on musical talent? Of course as always, my job was made even harder when I was introduced to the wave of talent that the finalists brought to the final bout. A variation of pop-punk, singer/songwriter, and indie rock swept across the small venue in an unprecedented display of what local talent has to offer to the music community in the three counties.
Timeless Lizards, Sarah Lappert, 2days2late and Atlas should be incredibly proud of how far they have come as artists and how they continue to shine as an example to an inspiring generation that wants to become musicians that anything is possible with hard work and dedication to your art. Although these guys are yet to be picked up by agents, I have no doubt that their time will come and I personally look forward to meeting and working with these guys in the foreseeable future.
The work that promoters and venues do for artists in the three counties goes above and beyond what many music communities are doing in this day and age to keep live music running. Their hard work is certainly paid off when touring bands such as SLAVES, Bastille, Spring King, Sundara Karma and many other acts end up playing the main stages at some of our favorite festivals this year and next.
I am incredibly proud to say that I belong to such a rich and thriving music community at The Horn and in the three counties and continue to work hard to promote, explore and give light to the much deserving artists that live among us. I will constantly remind every single living human to keep supporting live music until the day I die, as without it, we wouldn’t have many of the fantastic bands that have come and gone throughout the ages!
[…] All in all, I’m extremely excited to see where Atlas end up, they’ve got a huge future ahead of them and are sure to make impressions where ever they step foot. We at IndieCentralMusic first picked them up last summer when they were in performing at The Horn’s battle of the bands competition. You can read our Introduction Interview here.
