Babe Club produce nostalgic pop with synth-based indie rock
Charleston indie rock-pop outfit Babe Club reminisces on nostalgic pop as they release new single ‘Together’.
The American duo – Jenna Desmond and Corey Campbell – discuss an unconventional start to their relationship through melodic rock and wistful pop.
Describing the relationship as intense, the duo were sharing hotels and busy touring the country with their bandmates. So when the time came to get a place of their own it was unimaginable to be alone together.
Campbell’s synths and melodic bass lines reinforce the visceral and hazy emotions that you experience when reminiscing on your relationship with someone.
The song is airy and atmospheric like if HAIM turned into an orchestra. Desmond’s vocals pack a powerful punch and are visceral.
Of the new song, frontwoman Jenna Desmond said: “When Corey and I originally wrote this song, it was about discovering new things about each other as life changed and challenged our relationship.
“A year ago when we were finishing the recording process we would have never guessed that we’d be releasing it during such a troubling time.
“A global pandemic shutting down our world, and people protesting on the streets demanding justice and equality.
“Though it’s obvious our song wasn’t intended for this, we hope that it can bring some joy to you all, joy to being together with other humans whether they be friends/family/lovers/strangers.
“We’re all in this together. The lyrics say, ‘I’m trying to be normal again’. I think a new ‘normal’ is on the horizon.”
‘Together’ is one of five tracks on their upcoming EP ‘Remember this Feeling’ which is set for release later this year.
Recorded in Atlanta, GA, at Big Trouble Recording Studio, with Producer Dan Gleason (Grouplove) and engineered and mixed by TJ Elias (Liz Cooper / Manchester Orchestra).
