arctic monkeys

Distance yourself from the Sheffield boys you once knew. Trade in your statement Arctic Monkeys for a new and improved sexier model. Mature. Fine. Hairy. Ron Jeremy’s erection is merely but a glimmer of the 70’s pornographic throwback that AM produces in their innovative new album ‘Tranquillity Base Hotel and Casino’.

“AM paints a picture of a dilapidated motel and satin robes; toothless hookers and flares in a camcorder production of the worst type of sleazy pornography”. – George (senior editor)

“Look at what you’ve done to me” in the opening tracks ‘Star Treatment’ speaks volumes to me. Turner is in full control of the future of what AM is capable of. This album is his fuck you to everything that you wanted them to be and more and I couldn’t be happier with the result.

It’s doo-wop, it’s sham-rock. It’s got shades of Tame Impala and of course sister band TLSP. It’s Americana with guitar solo’s meet synths. It’s a whole lot to take in. Especially Turner’s vocal expedition. His rollercoaster with his falsetto is an outrageous gamble of both moments of uncomfortability and sexual healing; so much so, I had to make up a word.

The album might be a stones throw from the lads we first met all them years ago. However, prepare yourself for a new era. Daddy’s home. He might smell like another woman but he doesn’t care and you’re just gonna have to get used to it.
