Anthemic rockers The Esprits deliver contemporary indie with confidence

Producing a contemporary twist of indie rock, German four-piece The Esprits are filled to the brim with optimism and anthemic rock anthems.

The Braunschweig-based outfit formed in 2014 and comprise of Roman Ritter (lead singer, guitar), Andre Löper (drums, vocals), Till Pera (guitar) and Ole Hauk (bass, vocals).

They already have two studio albums under their belts Stay a Rebel in 2016 and Men’s Business two years later. Now onto their third single of 2021, ‘In A Hurry’ is the latest effort from The Esprits; a groovy, beat infused anthem mixed with vivid words and evocative music to express their attitude of looking at life.

To me, there are moments where they have similar elements to British rock band Clock Opera – particularly in the layering to ‘A Piece Of String’ from debut album ‘Ways to Forget’. ‘In A Hurry’ sucks you into a foot-stomping chorus as electronic undertones add ethereal intensity.

The band’s modern sound plays the counterpoint for their music video, which is more of a return to their roots out in the country.

Not only do they create music, but The Esprits also run their own label and opened up a merchandising company because it was the only way they could ensure the sustainability of their products.

Now they’ve taken it a step further and are helping protect and conserve the natural forest surrounding their home base of Brunswick.

Their new single ‘In A Hurry’ is the chance for a better future – the weight of waiting struck down with optimistic energy. Perfectly highlighting the ‘Hurry’ to tackle the climate crisis.

The Esprits are on a path to a more holistic art and anyone who feels like coming along on an exciting journey into tomorrow should join them. “See You In Neverland”!
