Deep in the heart of East London Animal Breakdown return with new single ‘Night Garden’ as the trio rifle up a blend of indie rock with a dash of powerpop.

Formed out of the ashes of family tragedy, broken hearts, violence and unemployment brothers in arms Martin Lynch, Josef Mitchell and Marco Nikic needed to exorcise some demons and inject some joy and direction into their lives.

With an aim to “conquer rock and roll”, the band follow up on the success of 2019’s debut double single ‘Parting Glass / Black Horse’ and have gone out all guns blazing for this new driving rock tune.

‘Night Garden’ offers up a delicious new-wave-tinged nocturnal anthem for the new decade, with a breezy cruising guitar riff paving the way for a dramatic jump into a crushing chorus whilst unhinged on the nostalgia of 80s post punk and new wave.

Dealing with sex, sleaze, dangerous liaisons, the reckless paradox/contradiction of feeling both invincible yet hopeless and the ensuing battle of confidence vs consequence. The track demonstrates Animal Breakdown’s skill at fusing catchy captivating melodies with powerful dark energy and beguiling lyrics.

On the single, the band said: “This track is about the difficulties of trying to survive when you have nothing and what you have to do sometimes to make ends meet.

“It would be a lie to say that this song will bring you hope because sometimes there isn’t any. What it will do is give you a glimpse into a life of struggle.”

If you’re a fan of The Cure, Pillow Queens, Manic Street Preachers, or Smashing Pumpkins, then Animal Breakdown might just be the band for you. Listen below and leave an ICM Star Rating out of 10.
