Amber Run psyched to play new single for the first time at 110 Above Festival

It’s just over 24 hours until Nottingham’s Amber Run headline 110 Above Festival tomorrow night in a long-awaited return for live music.

Those lucky enough to be there for the intimate, one-of-a-kind show will get a taste of the trio’s latest material for their upcoming fourth EP.

Amber Run posted to Twitter last week they were back together and rehearsing for their 45 minute plus performance which they said was a ”lovely excuse to get together and play music again”.

The band added: “I’d say the physical preparation has been similar to the montage scenes out of Rocky. No seriously, we haven’t played music in a long, long time so actually getting together and rehearsing for a festival had a bit of novelty.”

It certainly does feel like a privilege we can watch music again with like-minded people whilst soaking up the atmosphere in the glorious sunshine.

“We’ve never played it in front of a crowd before so that’s going to be one of the highlights for me.”

Amber Run speaking about latest single ‘I’m Tired’

Fortunately for Amber Run they had just finished touring their third album Philophobia towards the back end of 2019, just as the pandemic was emerging. This left the band in a somewhat comfortable position to focus on writing and recording new material.

They said: “We were quite fortunate in that we got the third album touring done before the end of 2019, so by the time the pandemic rolled around we were already in a writing phase for the next load of music.

“We navigated zoom song-writing and spent the year sending each other little demos and things. By the time we were able to come out to play again we had a load of material that we’re very excited to show everyone.”

That hiatus has enabled Amber Run to build up an album’s worth of songs stored away. And at the end of July this year, they announced EP ‘The Search (Act 1)’ would be released on September 10th.

In the build-up the band returned ‘52 Blue’ in May with ‘Ride’ and ‘I’m Tired’ shortly following it.

“The response has been incredible and it’s always such a pleasure to see your music resonating with people,” said the band. “It’s nice to think the songs can bring some enjoyment after, let’s be honest, such a shit, shit few years.”

Fans at 110 Above Festival are also in for a treat with an exclusive performance. The band said: “Well, I think I’m allowed to tell you, you will be getting a worldwide, first time, never seen before exclusive performance of our new single I’m Tired.

“We’ve never played it in front of a crowd before so that’s going to be one of the highlights for me.”

For you wonderful people reading, Amber Run isn’t just the only act performing. I asked them if they had been listening to many of the other artists to which they responded; “Yonaka have just released an album which is killer and they are incredible live so I can only recommend seeing them.

“The same goes for Island, their album came out earlier this year and we absolutely love it. We had the pleasure of watching them every night when we went on tour together, two fat thumbs up.”

Amber Run will be performing at 10.15pm. Watch the music video for ‘I’m Tired’ here.
