Album of the Year 2016 Winner – Blossoms

Album Of The Year 2016 - Blossoms

2016 has been a year packed full of great music and even greater bands coming on to the scene. There were over 50 bands that we followed this year releasing albums, some even for the first time. This made choosing the winner of the coverted album of the year award a pretty difficult task. Blossoms however, blew us away with their self-entitled debut.

Blossoms released their highly anticipated debut album in August. The self-titled album showcases their sound; a unique blend  of guitar-pop and funky disco-pop which is reminiscent of the 80s. Blossoms have been non-stop touring since the release and performed at nearly 50 festival appearances across the summer. The album managed to climb to Number One in the charts consequently making Blossoms a household name. The best part about the album is the variety within, from fast past anthems such as, ‘Charlemagne’ and ‘Getaway’ to the piano ballads ‘Onto Her Bed’ and ‘My Favourite Room’.

Blossoms’ debut actually made the highest selling debut album of the year. And deservedly so. It also beat the likes of Jack Garratt’s ‘Phase’.
