The indie-pop quartet hailing from Warrington, Viola Beach are to release their debut self-titled album! We tragically lost Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin and manager Craig Tarry in February this year when their car plunged 82ft off a bridge in Sweden.
Before we get into the review here is what the band’s family members said;
“We are tremendously proud of everything the boys achieved in such a short space of time. Craig, Jack, Kris, River and Tom shared a huge passion, talent, and dedication to music. We believe the best way to celebrate our sons’ lives is to release an album of their songs.
This is their legacy and we know deep in our hearts that the boys would want the world to listen to the music they poured everything into. This was only the beginning for them and these nine songs were written with every intention to be shared, heard and, most of all, enjoyed.
We hope that it brings you as much happiness listening to it as we know it did to them making it.”
The album kicks us off with their flagship single Swings And Waterslides. When the band released this sweet summery indie pop tune we were instantly hooked and so did a lot of people. Cherry Vimto is a great mix of drumming and a pleasing guitar melody that make it a solid song.
‘Boys That Sing’ immediately gets your attention that is bound to bring some sunshine into a grey English morning. The indie-pop track is spectacular, it is catchy, fun and full of happiness a perfect song to chase away the winter blues. The jingly guitars will certainly get the crowd going in any situation.
Viola Beach Played Reading Festival last year on the Introducing stage, which was their second live gig!, Also having a huge task of playing alongside Blossoms on their UK tour shortly before the accident in Sweden they quickly grew a big stage presence throughout their shows, growing massively in confidence. Everyone in the crowd was bopping you could tell that Viola Beach was onto a great superstar career.
