Album Review: Two Door Cinema Club – Gameshow

Two Door Cinema Club

Low and behold Two Door Cinema Club are finally back with brand new album ‘Gameshow’ featuring already popular singles ‘Are We Ready? (Wreck)’ and ‘Bad Decisions’.

Two Door Cinema Club first got our attention back in January when they released that there would be new material later on in 2016. The completion of the bands third studio album was announced on April 4th, sending great excitement across all of the indie-rock community. The first single that was to be featured on the album ‘Are We Ready? (Wreck)’ was premiered on BBC Radio 1 on 14th June as Annie Mac’s ‘Hottest Record’.

Later on, the band released second single from the album ‘Bad Decisions’ which was critically astounding. My personal highlight of the song is the extremely unique and eclectic music video that followed. These two singles teased fans for what was to come when ‘Gameshow’ was finally released and now that it’s here, it’s safe to say that no one should be disappointed by this album.

I, admittedly, only became a fan of the band properly after seeing them at Reading festival back in August but they’ve rapidly become one of my favourite bands. I then joined the long list of people chomping at the bit for more music and stayed up just to hear ‘Gameshow’ early this morning.

In all honesty, I cannot fault a single song on the album, in true Two Door Cinema Club style they have the perfect balance of upbeat and slower songs. My favourite song from the album is the album-titled song ‘Gameshow’ due to the rockier vibes that are slightly less obvious in most other songs. However, on the contrary ‘Good Morning’ stuck out to me because it captured the elements of a slower song whilst still containing their famous upbeat instrumentals.

Although ‘Gameshow’ shows more of a synth-pop side to the band, fans can recognise Two Door Cinema Club’s signature sounds through the album, which contains content that cannot be faulted.

‘Gameshow’ is available to buy and stream on iTunes and Spotify. Two Door Cinema Club are also off on tour in January and February, tickets are available now.
