Leeds indie rock outfit about-faces have dropped emotive new single ‘Heaven Sent’ today (July 12).

After bursting onto the scene only last year, about-faces are back with more emotion and vulnerability than ever before. If you thought previous single ‘Learn to Surf’ was powerful, then the band’s new effort trumps it.

‘Heaven Sent’ was the first song recorded by the band and it instantly became a fan favourite on the live circuit. All about hope and gratitude, the song is wrapped in their unique indie rock style. The track is stripped down with the melody and rhythm instantly grabbing your attention.

More guitar-focused, ‘Heaven Sent’ takes inspiration from U2 and Bruce Springsteen. As the song flows and builds up to an anthemic chorus, frontman Sennen Ludman shows an element of vulnerability in his voice. As he sings about what’s close to his heart, Danielle’s harmonies add a light, ethereal touch.

Sennen said: “‘Heaven Sent’ is a reflective song from my experience with grief, forgiveness and appreciation. I remember playing the opening guitar riff and just started playing with different melodies…I think the song was the perfect starting point for this band, it shows the vulnerability this band is becoming known for, wrapped in melody, I like that combination.

“I know this song is an appreciation for all the people I love in life, those who stuck by me when I lost my dad. I was very lost, angry at the world but my closest friends kept me on the right track and I am truly grateful for that. I’m not a believer in God, but I’m a believer in being a good person, and what my friends did and still do for me is very God-like I think. Amen to that.”

about-faces are making significant progress and are getting noticed by more fans each day. Their blend of storytelling and big, arena-worthy hooks are super catchy and more great songs are on the horizon. Follow them on Instagram @aboutfacesband.
