A Catch Up With Gengahr

Arty quartet Gengahr have had an incredible year. Touring with many well-established bands, making appearances at festivals all across the country and being able to perform their debut album in front of endless amounts of fans. We caught up with the lads to see how they’re getting on.

How has the reception been from fans when touring A Dream Outside?

It’s been great. I think a lot have people have now heard the album and really got in to it since we did our first uk tour just over a year ago.

In terms of releasing music, we know you’ve been in the studio recording LP2, but when can we expect a new single?

We still have a bit of work to do on the new record. It’s really important to us that the album is right so we are taking our time piecing it together. We still feel like we are making creative decisions that are improving the music so until we loose that feeling we are going to keep going.

Currently on a partially sold out tour. Whats the best thing about being on the road as a band?

I think the fans have made this tour really special so far. All the crowds have been so good and it’s been the most rewarding tour we’ve ever done in that respect.

Supporting you is new emerging talent, Caro. Did you pick them especially to support you? If so what was the main reason?

Yeh we got sent their music and thought they were doing something interesting and exciting so asked if they wanted to tag along. They are also a very slick love act too!

We at ICM are running our annual ICM Awards and are currently working on an Album of the Year. Since you didn’t release one this year, who would you pick as Album of the Year?

I think I’m gonna say, Angel Olsen. It’s a beautiful record.
