The 1975 get dark on latest track ‘People’

the 1975

The 1975 have arguably been the UK’s most important guitar band since the release of their third studio album ‘A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships’.

Having recently toured the world including controversial dates in Dubai, Japan and China; Matt Healy and the boys latest MFC project titled ‘Notes On A Conditional Form’ has seen the boys latest single ‘People’ turn the world of every Pumpkin Spice latte drinker upside down.

The 1975’s latest release sees them swap out their bright guitars for bass filled, heavy riffs, tearing vocals and a brand new punk attitude that shook me to my core. I like the song. I just don’t like that The 1975 did this song.

I’m absolutely for bands that take a change in direction. Arctic Monkeys did just that and I fell in love. Sometimes it’s necessary. Sometimes a band needs to evolve their sound. But I can’t help but feel like this new direction is trying too hard? It’s like if Liam Gallagher done a reggae song and started doing a Jamaican accent. There’s a lack of authenticity. Any other punk band that fancies giving this a crack please do us all a favour.
