Single Review: VANT – PEACE & LOVE

VANT

VANT’s new single ‘Peace & Love’  offers up a whirlwind of political positivity.

The upcoming British rockers are back with their brand new single; their 5th consecutive ‘Hottest Record’ to date! The track was debuted at the same time that they announced their debut album ‘DUMB BLOOD’ – which is due for release on 17th February 2017 and it’s probably right to presume that this track will be featured on there although their repertoire is constantly and substantially increasing.

The track as a whole is classic VANT style, however, it holds a much more relaxed and less apocalyptic atmosphere in regards to their previous releases which allows for the necessary emotional focus to shine through. The lads took to social media to explain the story behind the song; ‘We finished writing ‘Peace & Love’ in the wake of the Paris attacks. Atrocities like these are taking place worldwide on a daily basis, but it’s only when something happens so close to home that it truly grabs the full attention of our society.

We live on a planet that has forgotten what the words ‘Peace & Love’ mean and what they stood for in the 60s and 70s. The power of the peace movement changed the world forever but our unity is starting to slip. ‘Peace & Love’ have become throwaway words, fashion statements, cheap symbols that have lost their value. We need to reconnect with their true meaning because, more than ever, we are living in a time that really does need ‘Peace & Love’.’

Lead singer Mattie is renowned for openly voicing his opinion through his music and this single is no different with the closing line voicing ‘Now that peace and love have no meaning’.

The artwork for the single contains a somewhat similar style to The Killer’s ‘Sam’s Town’ which has just reached its 10th birthday and is having a special anniversary reissue in commemoration.

VANT are currently supporting You Me At Six on tour, they have their own headline tour set for November (for which you can get tickets here) and then they’re lined up to support Nothing But Thieves on their winter tour at the end of November/beginning of December.
