New Music Alert: The Starkins – Wasted

The Starkins are a bunch of young lads from Sheffield producing high-octane indie music. (Vocals- Andy Daniels, Guitar – Matt Elliss, Bass – Will Campbell and Drums – Joe Elliss).

The young lads have been setting high standards in their local area with some impressive enthusiastic and upbeat gigs, you don’t get much more fresh-faced than these guys. For all their youthful enthusiasm, the band has been together a little under four years, in that time amassing a handful of tracks in a career that belies their relatively young years.

The bands new single ‘Wasted’ once again sharpens their trademark sound whilst managing to retain the indie charm that was so loveable to begin with. It also marks a turning point for The Starkins the maturity hinted at on the last single has never been more evident. With a joyful twang still radiating in their sound, and the high-octane pace of ‘Roundabout’ the band’s maturing abilities really begin to shine through as their anguished vocals and swirling guitars really come in to their own. Throw in some wild percussion all neatly tied down with its jangly youthful basslines and you’re on to a sure fire winner.
