New Music Alert: The Courteeners – De La Salle

The Courteeners

The Courteeners have revealed another single from their upcoming album ‘Mapping The Rendezvous’, and ‘De La Salle’ is one song you don’t want to miss out on.

With this track, the Mancunian indie rock band has seemed to figure out what they really want to sound like. The song opens with some feel good, hearty acoustic guitar, quickly accompanied by strings.

Lead singer and lyricist Liam Fray throws out as many cameos as he can during the song, some including Jesus, Joan of Arc, Elvis and Steve McQueen. He reflects on whether these big names would’ve gone through the everyday things individuals do in this day and age, such as getting detention, slicing your thumb in home economics and having your phone tapped.

Despite the somewhat playful lyrics of the verses, the chorus brings in something a little different. The more uplifting and spiritual side of Fray is shown, “Good things come to those who wait/ God knows I’ve waited patiently”. This part of the song guarantees their live crowd to be holding each other which singing along and swinging back and forth, while also enjoying the catchy yet playful tune of the rest of the song.

‘Mapping The Rendezvous’ is out October 28th, check it out and pre-order it here.
