MAM Song of the Week: Matter of Mind – ‘Sparks in Our Blood’

Matter of Mind

Stockport rock band Matter of Mind is back with their latest single ‘Sparks in Our Blood’.

The four-piece cite their influences as Foo Fighters, Nirvana and Lower Than Atlantis, with the latter of the three shining through on their latest release. ‘Sparks in Our Blood’ opens with a rumbling guitar riff, before kicking immediately into gear with a screaming vocal from frontman J Lambert. It’s a powerhouse track which possesses elements of alt-rock and metal to showcase a heavier sound to the band’s music.

Matter of Mind have risen to prominence with a string of successful releases and packed out shows in nearby Manchester which has seen them grow a substantial live and online following.

Lambert explained of the song: “Sparks in Our Blood is written about a toxic relationship and the feelings of betrayal that sit along side it. Sometimes the ‘spark’ that holds two people together just isn’t enough.

“This song is a personal favourite of mine as it shows the heavier side to our music and it really allowed us to project our emotion within the music. We all have strong backgrounds in heavier music, and it’s something we really look forward to continuing pursuing.”
