MAM Song of the Week: The Edit – ‘Skittles’

the edit

Southampton four-piece The Edit has just released new single ‘Skittles’, and it’s three minutes of indie rock goodness.

The band pride themselves on their passion and energy, and ‘Skittles’ goes some way to capturing this on record. A pumping riff and driving vocal rumble through the track, with the band showing their brit-pop and indie influences.

The band explained of the song: “The message we’re trying get across is that in this modern world, people don’t do the things they want to because they’re too cautious of what people will think or what will happen.

“Everyone is too scared to do or say anything nowadays, and we believe you people should just be YOU. The song is a massive two fingers to those who put you down, make you feel like nothing, and don’t let you be who you want to be.

“It’s about standing up for what you believe in no matter what. Here’s to the ones who want to make something of themselves and live their lives. Stay ALIVE.”

The Edit play two dates alongside The Novatones this October:

18th Oct at The Mothers Ruin, Bristol
19th Oct at The Loft, Southampton
