Live Review: High Tyde @ Camden Assembly

High Tyde

On Monday 14th November, the Camden Assembly held host to The Hyve’s spectacular event which showcased the likes of Ultras, Fish Tank, Twin Wild and headliners High Tyde.

The intimate night commenced with Glaswegian alt-rock trio Ultras. The politely humorous lads kicked off the night with a somewhat experimental yet light twin-atlantic-esque vibe; the sense of a well-established sound permeated the set and included fan favourite ‘Napolean’ – the single with an indication of imperialism. Tha band affirmed that they have an album on the way so be sure to keep an eye out.

The second act of the night was the boiler suit donned boys of Fish Tank. The drastically improving set featured a healthy and upbeat summer sound with the well-received ‘The Feeling’ and some killer funky guitar riffs. The frontman’s seemingly dorky and satirical persona provided the crowd with promising hype to lead into the rest of the night.

The event was becoming more auspicious as the night went on and more people filed in the door. Twin Wild was up next and given the recent review I did of their respectable ‘My Heart’ EP I had high expectations. I was blown away. The sheer immense energy the lads have on stage left everyone in awe and honestly they are a band you have to witness live, like seriously! Their captivating set featured, as yet unreleased, ‘Control’, which is an enormous stand alone arena-ready tune, and concluded with the adored single that is ‘Fears’.

Finally, we reach the headliner, the undeniably talented High Tyde. I was fortunate enough for this to be my second time witnessing their mesmerising musical magic this month and I can honestly say they never fail to impress and I don’t think they ever could. They treated us to a range of their beloved tracks including ‘One Bullet’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Speak’ – to which the crowd screamed along to every lyric. They concluded their set with the hearty anthemic single that is ‘Dark Love’; the crowd went insane, the entire 200 capacity venue became one monstrous mosh pit bursting with a primitively spirited atmosphere. In its entirety, their set blasted unfathomably infinite energy from the offset and passionately exhibited the true core of High Tyde that many people, I included, crave.

To conclude, I’d like to thank The Hyve for the work they do in promoting and airing brilliant bands like the aforementioned and for inviting us down to such an impressive event. If you get the chance to attend one of The Hyve’s gig nights in the future you’d be stupid not to go!
