Hippo Campus release ‘way it goes’ ahead of debut album

Hippo Campus

We’ve known for a while that American quartet Hippo Campus are to release their debut album ‘Landmark’ next month (February 24th). ‘way it goes’ is the newest material following the release of their EP ‘SOUTH’  in 2015, so this makes one thing clear – the Minneapolis lads have been busy.

The new single comes off the back of ‘Boyish‘ and ‘Monsoon’ which has showed nothing you can dislike yet. Their pure indie rock sound has become a big hit in their home country which has been spreading over to the UK in the last six months or so with Saint Motel bringing them on their Tour, which stopped off at Dingwalls, Camden.

‘way it goes’ reminisces of teenage nostalgia taking us to your typical snowy cabin in the middle of nowhere just chilling in front of an open fire. Even though the track has a summery indie pop vibe.

Discussing the new track, Jake Luppen of Hippo Campus said:

“Set in early spring on a frozen lake in Cumberland, Wisconsin, ‘way it goes’ was a moment of clarity; a realization that we are comedy. We exist in a world where our main news source is a social media website. Materialism is our dogma. We seek to control the way our peers perceive us. We engage social issues as a backdrop for our personal drama. It’s the rare moments when we can escape from this artificial reality, that really matter.”
