Field Studies @ The Sugarmill

Field Studies

Back at our favourite venue once again to be entertained by Nottinghamshire’s indie pop four-piece Field Studies on Monday night. The band is currently on a UK tour this autumn, with Stoke-on-Trent as their sixth stop.

Chris Bailey, Charlie Howarth, Kasper Sandstroöm and Andrew Harrison recently released their second EP ‘Rainmaking’ in May this year and since then have been touring the EP and getting themselves out there to the people. Their chilled out alternative pop sound is very relaxing to listen to, you can easily be standing there with your pint in your hand and slowly swaying side to side.

‘Listener’ is my favourite track off the EP, four and a half minutes of laid back vocals and calm atmospheric vibes. They do remind me quite a lot of Man Of Moon with their classic loud alt rock anthems. ‘Crook’ and ‘Verbatim’ follow similar suit with psychedelic rock and progressive piano beat creating a transcendent atmosphere.

These guys have a lot of potential. Support from Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and John Kennedy of Radio X saw the band make numerous national festival appearances, including a slot on the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival, and an acclaimed appearance at Y Not Festival which was described by BBC Introducing’s Emma Clifford as “spellbinding and incredible to experience”.

These guys are well worth a listen – check out ‘Listener’ below and the rest of their current tour dates!
