EP review: Marsicans – Absence

Marsicans

Marsicans are back with a bang thanks to the release of their brand new EP ‘The Absence’. The Northern four piece are back at it again with their signature indie sounds that intertwine with dirty pop. What’s even more surprising in this EP is that Marsicans have found a louder and rockier sound to compliment all other elements of their original sound.

The EP itself has found fantastic reception from the music community as it quickly obtained Apple Music’s ‘Best of the Week’ accolade. The boys had a fantastic time playing at Glastonbury festival this year and were hastily picked up by the BBC as their lead track ‘Absence’ was featured on Radio 1 by Huw Stephens.

Personal Highlights from the EP:

The opening track is an instant winner. Marsicans have taken a completely different direction with this track, adding a stadium rock/commercial twist with their wondrous signature sound that will guarantee them more airtime with the BBC.

The Deluxe Edition is a great touch. Not only does it feature a couple of remixes, but also a string quartet version of the track ‘Far Away’, which is stunning. The classic element with the vocals is both haunting and beautiful. It shows a totally different side of indie music that I haven’t experienced before! A live version of this track would be a highlight of 2016! Get on Jools Holland!!!
