Discover Melbourne guitar-pop quintet Swim Season

swim season

Melbourne five-piece Swim Season are a band who describe themselves as ‘mature guitar-pop’, with each member bringing something fresh and unique to their music.

The band consists of James Seymour (vocals and guitar), Matthew Jennings (guitar and vocals), Danielle Smarrelli (keyboard and vocals), Nelson Yeung (bass) and Jonathon Ferraro (drums). This band is incredibly underrated, having a small following of just over 7,000 monthly listeners on Spotify but are packed full of potential to become huge sensations.

Their most popular track, ‘Soldiers’, was released back in 2015 and provided them with the break they needed in order to secure places in various festival lineups in addition to selling out shows all over Australia. The band took some time off after lead singer James Seymour had surgery however, they returned last year with two new tracks: ‘Lungs’, an upbeat track with indie vibes and ‘Collide’ which is far calmer acoustic track.

The band have been travelling around Australia, making appearances at festivals and supporting other acts for numerous shows. This means that unfortunately for UK fans, it is unlikely that we will be seeing them touring the UK in the near future. With any luck, in time the band will gain the recognition they deserve and we may just see them performing in venues all around the country.
