Declan McKenna

The young Declan McKenna has broken the silence around his second awaited album announcing the release of a new single ‘Beautiful Faces’.

Alongside this release, he has said the LP Zeros is set for May 15th, 2020 after the previous cutting ‘British Bombs‘ was a revolution.

With sharp and innovative sounds, Declan McKenna has encaptured in a little over three minutes a whole generational culture. The single itself is a challenging, hallucinogenic, dystopian track: it depicts everyone’s anxieties and beliefs, taking their shape and hovering over our heads. What is interesting is that the beginning actually sounds like an end; I don’t know if it was a conscious decision, but surely it works pretty well in the context.

In a society as confused as today’s world, songs like this help put order to the chaos in people’s minds: describing routines, confused nights, and this sort of satyrical representation of the ‘others’ (the ‘beautiful faces’) Declan McKenna takes the listener on an eclectic rollercoaster of teenage emotions and youthful spirits. Growing up is scary for everyone, especially in this modern world filled with fake news, social media, and doom. It is very inspiring to see that younger artists are striving to change the world.

‘Beautiful Faces’ proves Declan McKenna’s courage and boldness in a world of despair and bewilderment, attempting to shine a light for all the people who find themselves in a dark alley that they feel estranged from.
