Callum Pitt combines finger-picked folk riffs and hook-driven alt rock

Callum Pitt

Following up on his debut EP, Newcastle musician Callum Pitt has just released a hook-driven alt rock tune.

Called ‘L.Lane’, Callum’s sound combines finger-picked folk riffs with a stunning falsetto voice and rich harmonies.

The new track has an unrelenting pace, kicking off with an Americana-inflected guitar hook, without really taking a break before careering through a breathlessly delivered verse.

The bridge showcases both Callum’s unending capacity to conjure up memorable melodies and his unique falsetto voice. The track builds tension by holding off on its first singalong chorus, finally taking a breather before heading right back into another bridge and chorus.

New track ‘L.Lane’ exhibits many of the hallmarks of Callum’s lyrics to date – vivid imagistic storytelling covering themes of loneliness and longing.

Explaining the track’s thematic focus, Callum said: “’L.Lane’ is primarily about waiting and feeling stuck.

“It revolves around a period in my life where my relationship had to be long distance, I wasn’t in an enjoyable job, and not much was happening musically.

“It explores the feelings of discontent, disconnect and resentment you feel towards the place you feel stuck in and how easily time can be wasted by not being present mentally.”

After his first festival appearances at The Great Escape, This Is Tomorrow and Deer Shed this summer, Callum has finished his first full UK tour, including performances at Wild Paths festival alongside Jose Gonzalez and a headline show at London’s Paper Dress Vintage.
