Song Of The Week: OUTLYA – White Light

Fancy something a bit different? Then look no further than indie-pop trio OUTLYA.

The London-based group are Song Of The Week with their latest feel-good single ‘White Light’.

Lead singer, Will Bloomfield has started a new chapter of his musical career with fellow band mates Henry Kilmister and Willem Olenski as their previous band Port Isla disbanded. Now they are gaining some serious traction from the critics, which has given the boys a big moral boost.

Following on from their debut EP, Volcano, the new cut ‘White Light’ is a bold, upbeat track that I think is their best-produced track to date. It has been taken care of and nurtured into a radio hit single.

Produced by Dan Grech-Marguerat (Liam Gallagher, Tom Grennan, Radiohead, The Vaccines) the pedigree is there – embodying OUTLYA’s knack for creating a killer hook and an even catchier chorus that demands to be sung along to.

Talking about the track, Bloomfield said: “White Light is a song about pushing through the darker days that we all find ourselves in sometimes.

“Whether it’s faith, love, determination, everyone has a “white light” that offers up some illumination or hope in times of trouble.

“We wanted to take that sentiment and make a physical version of that would make you want to dance. Dancing is this really instinctive raw human expression of emotion and we tried to encapsulate that.”
