2017 Ones To Watch #6 – Pretty Vicious

With 2016 over, we look ahead to what musical talent 2017 can offer, and with the masses of acts out there in the industry there is plenty for us to get excited about. Throughout January, ICM will be highlighting one new band each day and showing just why they should be on your music radar. Our 6th band is Pretty Vicious.

After following Merthyr Tydfil lads, Pretty Vicious since the start we have watched them grow into respectable musicians. With a grunge-like edge to their sound that is reinforced with an aggressive attitude on stage, these 4 lads know exactly what they’re doing.

Singles Such as ‘Its Always there’ and ‘Cave Song’ are what got our initial attention but recent tracks such as ‘Blister’ made it onto ICM’s Song Of The Week.

The three and a quarter long track is a great alt-rock classic with infectious guitar riffs and powerful lyrics blasted out of the speakers will certainly start burrowing themselves into the ears and minds of new potential fans. Not to mention that the band has finished recording their debut album, but no official release date.

Pretty Vicious

Pretty Vicious as we know are not ones to shy away from playing live, their summer was jam packed with festival dates including Y Not Festival, Kendal Caling and UndergroundFestival. The band also had their very own headline show in the autumn.

When we saw them at Underground Festival was absolutely incredible to see such confidence and passion coming off the stage from Pretty Vicious. Still yet to receive the huge recognition which they deserve – they aren’t slowing down the surging momentum that is pushing them around the country performing in front of all types of crowds. Underground provided a sweaty mosh pit of young music lovers, the ideal crowd for Pretty Vicious.

Making the most of it, ICM favourites, ‘Cave Song’ and ‘It’s Always There’ made it to the setlist and blasted out of the speakers and started burrowing themselves into the ears and minds of new potential fans. Especially after seeing Pretty Vicious performing to a drunken mess at Y Not Festival, I would say they are a versatile band that comes as it comes. If you like it, get on the band wagon. If you don’t, then forever be behind.

We will be announcing a new band every day throughout the entirety of January and the ICM long list will be announced on February 1st.
